Constructivist learning theory emphasises the role of learners as active agents who construct knowledge through experience, social interaction and reflection. In the context of Islamic Religious Education, this approach is highly relevant as it is capable of developing the cognitive, affective and spiritual dimensions simultaneously. This article aims to analyse the principles of constructivism and their application in the development of educational media for Islamic Religious Education. This study employs a qualitative approach using content analysis, conducted through a literature review of academic books and journal articles published between 2020 and 2026; the data were analysed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, comprising data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing/verification. The research findings indicate that constructivism-based learning media enhance (i) learner engagement, (ii) critical thinking, (iii) deep conceptual understanding, and (iv) foster affective and spiritual development. Effective learning materials must be interactive, contextual, collaborative and support independent exploration of knowledge, furthermore, the integration of technology with constructivist principles further enhances the meaningfulness of the learning experience. The implication of this study is that the application of constructivist theory in the development of Islamic education media provides an effective strategy for improving the quality of teaching and learning in the digital age.
